Bloody Sunday ("Domenica di sangue") si riferisce ad un drammatico evento accaduto il 30 gennaio 1972 a Derry, nell'Irlanda del Nord, quando un plotone di paracadutisti inglesi del 1° Reggimento aprì il fuoco su una folla di dimostranti che manifestavano pacificamente contro alcune norme di polizia che consentivano l'internment, ovvero la reclusione preventiva senza termini temporali per il processo.13 dimostranti, molti dei quali giovanissimi, restarono uccisi nella sparatoria. Numerosi furono anche i feriti, uno dei quali morì tempo dopo, secondo alcuni, a causa delle ferite riportate
