    Ban on magic shrooms in Holland The Dutch government is about to ban all magic mushrooms. Ministers Klink and Hirsch Ballin decided to schedule them as hard drugs.

    The issue has been discussed for a few months, mainly because of its judicial aspects. Six months ago, the Second Chamber did already insist on a total ban.

    The Ministry has officially confirmed that the sale and cultivation of magic mushrooms will be punished heavily.

    More details, such as the exact date on which the ban will be issued, have not been published yet.

                                  * * * Protest against ban on magic mushrooms in Holland * * *

                                  The Dutch government is about to ban all magic mushrooms. Ministers Klink and Hirsch Ballin decided to list them as Category 2 drugs.

                                  This has been decided without referring to the most recent CAM research report, this institution has proved earlier that hallucinogenic mushrooms do not bring harm to an individual's health and have no addictional properties.


                                  * 'Save the shrooms' demonstrates *

                                  On Saturday 27 October there will be a demonstration in Amsterdam. Everyone is invited to visit the Dam Square from 1 to 3 pm. It will be a joyful event focusing on knowledge, music and mushrooms designed by the public.

                                  There will be DJ's, musicians, writers, poets and academics.

                                  Action group Red de Paddo (Save the Shrooms) has been protesting for two weeks against the ban. Through their website Red de Paddo! - Kom naar de demonstratie op 27 oktober op de Dam in Amsterdam! over a 35.000 letters have been sent to ministers and the parliament.
