It reads like an interview to Benigni

        one thing: "you're right" and not "you have reason";
not "in realty", but something like "in the truth".
        The rest seems quite acceptable.

        Let's hear Mr. Acquerapide.

I'd be happy to help anyone that asks for it, but believe me, my english seems to be perfect to you.
If an american or english guy would come here, he probably would have a lot to say about my english, too

I can give you all a suggestion anyway, it has worked very well with me : nowadays everyone has a dvd reader, or also Sky tv, right?
So, why don't you watch movies in the original language?
              This is my personal "recipe":
Take a dvd of a movie you like (yes, in particular movies you have seen several times, those that never "bore")
              1. Watch the movie in italian. With subtitles in english if you like, but not paying too much attention to them, even better without. Now you just have to memorize the dialogues. Give a look to the subtitles just only if you already know the movie very well.
              2. watch the same movie a second time, better if the same day or the day after, but in english with subtitles in italian
              3. then watch it in english with subtitles in english (as long as you can bear)

              It's a good exercise because:

              It's cheap
It doesn't steal you any extra time, it's your spare time anyway
              it's funny
It's important for comprehension, a crucial point in order to "live" a language

Remember that even in italian a lot of people always use no more than 2000 words to express themselves, and that in a movie you can learn even 100-150 new words!

              Just some suggestions:
              • Prefer english movies at first ("sliding doors", "quattro matrimoni ed un funerale"...)
              • AVOID cartoons: they're really hard to understand
              • AVOID trying with songs (Mick Jagger in particular ): they are hard too (otherwise we all would be english specialists!)

              I hope it was useful

              P.S. Se necessario, ovviamente traduco
I'd like to add just one more thing: you'd better only start listening to movies after you're able to understand almost EVERY written text (e.g. magazins), so you're already used to most words, you'll only have to recognise them while listening to movies, it'll save you so much time. I did so and could learn the language perfectly within 2 years, it really helps!

Yes, there must be at least a good comprehension of a written text, but not so perfect indeed: reading subtitles is reading anyway

By the way, another suggestion: the best are sci-fi movies, or history movies: their english is often much cleaner than movies based on actuality: there is no slang there

I meant: if you're able to read without a dictionary, you won't need to read all the subtitles, but only some of them, in case you don't recognise a word or two.
If you're going to read all the subtitles, you'll have no time for listening as you can't listen and read at the same time, it'll be just like reading a magazine. And our main aim was to understand spoken language, wasn't it?
Or at least it's what it should be in my opinion.

in my opinion you can start seeing the films in original tongue also without subtitles for the simple reason is better that if you understand that that say. . well. . if you do not understand him will understand during the film....
P.S: I recommend English films to you for example: "harry potter" and not American films for ex: acean' s eleven ....I have the impression that in the american film the actors tell a part of the word..
