Well, I speak three languages quite fluently... and what I feel it's that for each language I'm a different person.

When I speak in English, I think in English.
Maybe this could be the reason.
You're pushed to think in different language so you create a different way to elaborate your thoughts according to your language knowledge & skils...??? Could be???

Anyways... nice topic.
Need to investigate further! I'll get back to you...

I don't think it's a matter of "lying"... it's more like "beeing" slightly different according to the language you're speaking...
It's like if the cultural thing overwhelms your nature.

... today I was thinking that it's funny how in English a very simple concept doesn't really exist. I was thinking about the form "ho voglia di.."
The same form exists in German (Ich habe Lust), Spanish (tengo ganas), but NOT in English... well, you can say "I want" or "I would like to", but it's not the same thing!! It sounds so different to me! That's why I sometimes don't feel myself at ease when I have to express this concept in English. How strange languages are...

Well, right!

That's it : "I'm keen on a good cup of coffee" or "I feel like having a cup of coffee".

Indeed if you say "I'm keen on football" it sounds like " I really like football"

Anyway I think that's a problem of fixing in our mind a different way to say stuff...I like to say that I do think with an English vocabulary but I do not think in English. I believe it's true for most of us.

Hi!!I study foreign languages at university and sometimes I don't can express myself..Usually I have to change the meaning of my discussion because I don't remember the right words!!!I can speak English,French and portugues but I express myself better in French than other languages!!

Yes indeed, it sounds quite artificial...

But it happened to me, and not even hardly, that I forgot the word I was soon to spell in italian, and, because of the forgettance, I used the english synonimous.For example sometimes instead to say "attrezzo" I use the word device.I guess it sounds quite silly...
